The way I was raised was to always respect our elders. So when you're walking in front of them, you'd put your head down in a little type of bow thing, just to show you're lower than them. It is just a respectful thing to do. Also, that you'd never cuss to them even if it was apart of the way you speak, you just wouldn't. No matter what age you are, it just doesn't happen. Another common thing to do is, taking off your footwear before entering a home.
So about 2 years ago, I was very angry with my parents for some reason and I've cussed at them! Oh goodness, that was one of the worst mistake I have ever made in my life. That is also one of the two types of punishment that I received being a naughty kid. Being hit, definitely painful but it surely gets the point across. But I've noticed something completely different, whenever I go to visit my friend, Ryan. He cusses when he's on the phone with his parents, which I was baffled to hear! Ryan had told his parents once he has turned 18 - he's 20 now - he'll be cussing in front of them. Which I thought was absurd! They're fine with it, since he is an 'adult' now. But I don't think there is an age limit when it is acceptable to say in front of your parents or elders for that matter.
This is when I noticed he and I have completely different types of cultures. Ryan with is western-style culture and I, with my Asian. The way I was raised to never speak back or cuss at my elders, the little bowing thing we do and much much more. With his parents definitely more lay back than my own. Ryan is able to conversationally cuss with his parents and even drink alcohol with them! Which I would never be able to do in front of my parents.
My culture would be like a pack of lions, there is a need for order and respect. One of the newer members would never try to offend the alpha of the pack, unless they're asking for a beating! Knowing where you are on the social ladder is critical. They teach you the things you need to know and provide all the necessary essentials. Always showing respect for one another but on a different scale for each person.
However, for Ryan's culture, it'd be like grazing cattle. They all respect each other but it is just split into two different types of groups. You are either the child or an adult. So the adults are almost fully equal social status to one another. The older the generations a bit more respect they have but you are still able to do as you please. For the children, there are rules but they are not strict rules.
If these two different types cultures ever clashed together, it would cause mayhem! Both of them of have their own opinions on what is right and what is wrong, causing an never ending debate between the two. The lions would just be shredding the cattle apart or the cattle would be trampling over the lions.
There will always be diversity in the world of cultures. No culture would ever be the same, only similar in ways. But I like learning about other peoples cultures and how it is different from my own. Everyone has the right, to their own opinion on what they think is right and wrong.

"the Catcher in the Rye" if to be a movie
J.D. Salinger, the writer of the Catcher in the Rye, he didn't ever want to sell his copy rights of his novel to be made into a movie. My opinion on it would to agree to disagree because I could actually see this novel being turned into a movie or play but the people who'd be playing the characters would seriously have to capture the character perfectly. I believe that it might be a bit difficult to capture Holden's personality and finding someone that would portray him perfectly. This would either be made into an amazing movie or just have a horrible turn out. In the Cather in the Rye, there are distinctive types of emotions that could need to be put out. I understand where J.D. Salinger is coming from when he says he doesn't want to sell his copy rights because there is something very specific about this novel that not any one person would be able to represent. Although, I believe that this could be any amazing movie or play, using the right people, of course. Another thing would be that, the person producing the movie would take out critical moments in the novel or change something about it.
But if I had to make the Catcher in the Rye into a movie, I would place Robert Zemeckis as the director. The reason why I believe Robert Zemeckis would be great as the director because he was so great in Forrest Gump with narrating his life throughout the movie. It was done so cleverly. Also the way in the movie when he was just talking to random people about his life story, never telling them in anything else but his point of view.
As for Holden Caulfield, I could cast Josh Hutcherson because I believe he'd be able to capture Holden's personality. I really liked Josh in Hunger Games because he is able to defend himself. Which is way I believe he'd be great as Holden, a tough person that is able to stand up for himself and against the phony people.
I would have Sarah Bolger as Jane Gallagher because she is such a great actress, she'd be able to pull it off. Even though we never meet Jane in the novel, only from Holden's high praises towards her and that she is a very pretty dark haired girl. I also love her as Aurora in the t.v. show Once Upon a Time.
For Sally Hayes character I would have Emma Stone because in her previous movies she has been in. Emma shows that she could be a free spirited type of person and is able to take control of a situation. I loved her in Easy A because she just did everything so well and was funny at the same time. Plus she looks like a very spunky blonde, which is how i see Sally as.
I believe Mackenzie Foy would be great as Phoebe because she's a very cute young girl. I thought she was adorable in Twilight Dawn as Renesmee Cullen. I feel that she'd be able to pull of the little girl that doesn't take 'no' for an answer. Also could be a very intelligent little sister as Holden describes her to be.

Joy of my life, full oft for loving you By Edmund Spenser
I chose this poem Joy of my life, full oft for loving you by Edmund Spenser because when I first read this poem, I thought it was so lovely and sweet. I absolutely love the way that in this poem, you are able to instantly tell that he's madly in love. In this poem, Spenser is trying to portray how in love he is with this woman and how amazingly wonderful and beautiful she is. I believe he got his point across clearly and very well written.
Another reason why I chose this poem over all the others was because once I saw this poem, I fell in love with it! The way Spenser shows his utter most dearest affections for this women in a way I wouldn't of have thought to compose for another. Usually people have a hard time expressing their feelings for other but in this poem, it was just done perfectly. That Spensers' love for this woman was so intense that he believed she was spent from heaven and he wasn't any good for her. She deserved so much more than what he could offer.
It was really difficult for me to pick a favorite line, so my favorite stanza from this poem is,

It was really difficult for me to pick a favorite line, so my favorite stanza from this poem is,
"But since ye deign’d so goodly to relent
To me your thrall, in whom is little worth,
That little that I am shall all be spent
In setting your immortal praises forth;". I don't know why but I am seriously, absolutely in love with this stanza. This maybe the corniest thing I'll ever blogged but it just captures my soul! It is so amazing, I love it!
I'm able to relate to this poem is because I love all those sappy, lovey dovey types of things and that this poem was written so well. Also that I have cared for someone so much that I thought I wasn't good enough for him because he was just such an amazing person. I couldn't believe that I was with him and what I found hilarious was that he thought the same exact thing at the time. We had such wonderful times together, just lifting each other up to our highest potential and also gracing the heavens with our love.
Reality t.v., what a drag...
Most reality t.v. shows are just absolutely ridiculous! I don't understand how people are able to watch shows such as, Jersey Shore, The Kardashians and etc. I've tried to watched that shows once before and I could not stand one minute of it! It's just a show about obnoxious rich people, living out their lives like everyone else but the only difference is that they're loaded! Just showing all of the stupid things they do, they're own life dramas and etc. In my opinion, they just want to flaunt off their wealth to the world and show people up. It may entertain a number of people in the country but it would just be the same as watching the life of some other random person out there in the world. But I do believe there are a few entertaining reality t.v. shows. For example, Fear Factor and X Factor. I like these types of reality t.v. shows because it shows peoples courage or what they are able to do. When I watch t.v. I don't want to watch other peoples lives because I'm already satisfied with dealing with my own. As for Fear Factor, I just want to see all of the disgusting and outrageous things people would do for money. I am always astounded by what people would do for thousands of dollars. Another show I like to watch is X Factor, as I have said before. The reason why I believe this is an acceptable show to watch is because of peoples bravery and most are able to sing so well! I enjoy listening to people sing, while i can't. But this is just an extra video that I thought was HILARIOUS!

The Lady of Shalott
Basically, in this poem, The Lady of Shalott, is of a young woman trapped inside a tall tower in Camelot. She is all alone in the tower and is not allowed to see or communicate with the outside world. The Lady of Shallot is told by a whisper that, if she was to ever look down upon Camelot, she would be cursed. The curse is unknown to what will happen to her. She is alright with being held captive in the tower but once she has stopped this lowing couple below by looking through her mirror, she instantly becomes envious of their love. The life that she once held all alone is now, miserable. Soon enough, she hears the sound of a man, Lancelot. She runs out of the tower and her mirror shatters. She knew the curse was about to begin. She then gotten into a boat and floated down the river to her death. Later, she was found by the knights of Camelot and were all afraid. But not for Lancelot, who found her to be beautiful.
I believe, The Lady of Shalott represented hope because even though she was trapped in a tower, she was able to set herself free (sort of like a caged bird being releases). Never being able see the outside world before, but now being able to, even just for a short moment of time would be amazing. Also, knowing that if leaving the tower, she would be releasing that dreadful curse. Not knowing what the consequences will be, but taking the risk anyways, it'd be worth the risk. Even though she was dying while sailing down the river, she was finally set free. Being able to see the world for the first time and how it truly is.
I'm able to relate to this to my own life because sometimes I feel trapped within myself. Whether I'm feeling stressed or over thinking about something, but somehow, I am always able to feel myself from it. No matter what my difficulties are, I'm always able to triumph through strong and free. But for one thing, it always takes time, some longer than other. Some more painful than the other, but always being able to free myself from it is gives me the strength to know that I'll be able to overcome anything.
I believe this image represents, The Lady of Shalott because she looks so free, free to enter the outside world no matter the consequence. Even though she had come to her death, she is able to enjoy it. Leaving the tower was worth releasing the curse for because she was finally able to enter the world, she was never allowed to join. Even though she wasn't able to receive the love she was envious of. At least, she was able to see the world in its true form and not what she thought it looked like from her own imagination.
Corporal Punishment
What is Corporal Punishment? It's where the teachers and faculty are allowed to spank their students with a paddle. Which I believe is completely outrageous! No school, anywhere in the world should be allowed to paddle their students. They may have had this as a punishment back in the bad, but there's a reason why it isn't allowed now. It is such a cruel and inhumane way to punish students. In Springtown, Texas, two teenage girls were paddled by their male vice principle. The rule they have there is that, only the same gender as the child may spank the student. But this was a male vice principle paddling a female student, leaving bruises and blisters on their behinds. What the school district is trying to do is to change the rule from, same gender as the student may be allowed to paddle but now it to be either gender. Which is totally absurd! What they should be actually doing is banning that rule. If any person is allowed to punish the students, I think they would most likely feel empowered. I also think that would scare the students even more because the teachers and faculty that are supposed to be reliable and comforting adults, will be feared instead. The image of students going to school and feeling safe would be tarnished. They could be permanently damaged, fearful and even lower their self-esteem because of it. I know that the 'paddle' is supposed to make students learn not to cheat or do bad things, but there are other methods of doing so. Not even their own parents are allowed to it them unless, they want Children Services at their door. But there are some parents whom believe in that type of system. I just believe that method is completely off base and should be banned everywhere!

To be or not to be
Northern Ireland apart of the United Kingdom, it shares boarders with the Republic Ireland to the south and west. Northern Ireland for many many years a violent and bitter conflicted place between nationalist, Roman Catholic, and unionist, British Protestant. The unionists want Northern Ireland to remain as a part of the United Kingdom, while nationalists want reunify with the rest of Ireland and become independent of British rule. I believe that Northern Ireland should separate from British rule and govern themselves. That way they could avoid conflict and violence between the countries. There has been pointless riots between the two religions and many undeserved deaths. In 1985, there was a plan to sign a peace treaty, The Anglo-Irish Agreement. The treaty may have been signed, but the few that didn't want this treaty to be signed they had it blocked by implementation. Which I believe, they should of have done because the Troubles didn't stop. The UK should just give back Northern Ireland to the land it once was.
